3. I need help formulating a ration. Can you help me?
If you need help formulating a ration, we first recommend that you purchase a copy of Jeff Mattocks' book, Pastured Poultry Feeding and Management. Jeff's book delves into feed ingredients, and gives suggested rations for layers, broilers, turkeys and ducks. It is really a must-have for anyone wanting to mix their own rations, so much so that it is one of the few books promoted by the American Poultry Association. It will give you the basic knowledge needed to mix your own rations confidently. Feel free to email us with any questions you might have. We can help with ration formulations that are tailored to your needs, whether you are a breeder, raising meat birds, or just have a few layer hens for your own egg production.
4. Do you ship orders?
Yes, we do ship orders. We use Canada Post for small orders, and transport companies for larger ones. We ship across Canada. If you would like a shipping quote, please email us with your address and what you would like to order.
5. I only have a few chickens. Can you sell me a partial bag?
Unfortunately, we do not sell partial bags of any products.
6. I would like to formulate a soy-free ration.
Soy free rations can be formulated, but there are several challenges, finding good alternative sources of protein being a major one. For alternative sources of protein, see this link. Once you have secured at least 3 or 4 sources of protein, we will be happy to assist you further. There is some information and results of field trial on soy-free rations in Pastured Poultry Feeding and Management. You might find these videos helpful as well.
Please note that the soy free ration base talked about in the video below is not available in Canada.
